Oakcrest Reunion

I used to work at a LDS girls camp called Oakcrest. Most of you that know me, already know that, but I just thought I'd get that out there. :) Anyway, this summer was the 50th anniversary, and they had a reunion for anyone that had worked there in the past 50 years. It was really neat! There was one lady that worked there in the 60's I think. Crazy. It was so wonderful to get back up there. I love the memories that I have of those 2 summers that I worked there. I truly believe that my time as Chunky Monkey changed my life for the better. I am grateful for the friends that I made those summers and the lessons that I learned.

Lindsey(Tinkles), Reed(her husband), Judd and I all drove up together. We started off by going to Dick's, which is a yummy cafe down in Kamas. We used to visit that place frequently when we were Assistant Directors. They have really yummy shakes and onion rings. MMMM....getting hungry just thinking about it!!

Once we got to Oakcrest, we had an hour or so to walk around the camp and look around. It is so beautiful up there! We went on the zipline, and it was funny to watch Judd go down the not-as-fast-as-I-remember-zipline. :)

There were also a lot of changes in camp. They added a pretty little waterfall/pond thing by the lodge, an obstacle course, and a beautiful picture of Christ in the lodge.

Then they had a program in the lodge and it was crazy to see how many people were there. Duzz(my good friend who was the director when I was an AD) put together a slideshow with pictures from a lot of the different years. It was fun to hear camp songs and see Oakcrest throughout the years. After the program, we met on the softball field by a sign that divided us into the years that we worked. Here, we were able to talk with many of the girls we worked with and we took lots of photos!!

This first photo is of Lindsey(Tinkles) who has been one of my best friends since Oakcrest, standing at "our" sign. :)

Here are some of the girls I worked with in 2002.

This is a picture of some of the ladies on the Women's Committee. They are the behind the scenes ladies that do a bunch of the planning for the camp. The lady on the bottom row in the white is Duzz.

These are girls I worked with in 2003.

Another picture of some of the 2002 staff.

Judd didn't get any sleep the night before, so he was pretty sleepy. After the program, he took a little nap while I caught up with my friends. He's so cute. :)
These are just some pictures of the scenery at Oakcrest. The sunsets there are AMAZING. The camera doesn't do it justice. I miss those sunsets. The stars are amazing up there also, but I couldn't take a picture of that.

Here are a few more random pictures from the night. The first one is Lindsey and I in the trading post, where you can buy treats, Oakcrest memorabilia and other stuff. The second one is my good friend Biph, who I call Bipheda (I like her a lot!). The third one is Citrus and me. Everyone always told us we looked like sisters.

It was so much fun! It was so wonderful to see all of these girls that I have come to love and respect so much in a place that is filled with the spirit of the Lord. It was very refreshing. The ride home was a lot of fun as well. Lindsey, Reed, Judd and I rocked out to some good tunes and it was a good way to end a wonderful evening.

All of your pictures make me laugh. Too bad Reed was the only one who got all the "stellar" pics of my hott poses. So attractive. :) Such good times! Oakcrest is the best!

My sister-in-law (Twister) went to the reunion too. She was clear back from '93 or '94 and was pretty excited to go see some of her other camp counselor friends. It looked like it was fun!

Oh, cute Chunky! I'm glad I met you at Oakcrest too! Dick's is so yummy, Julia and I ate there before we got to camp, too! I didn't know that people said you and Citrus looked like sisters... I never even thought of that! The might stars are my favorite thing at Oakcrest! I like the picture of Tinkles singing, she's so funny! Well anyway, these are some of the random thoughts I had while reading your post.

Hey Becky, Just came across your blog. I was looking at your oakcrest post. The girl you called Citrus... is her name Kristy or something close to that or maybe I am way off. I was just curious, I think I worked with her at American Express somewhere between the summer of 2000-2001. It would just be interesting to know. She was a fun girl.
